Feature request: Description field for an image is missing

Hi,

At the moment, MS Word (docx) images have a "Description field" (also known as the Meta Data), found if you right-click an image in Word. Only Office doesn't have this, so once it's opened (to edit), it strips the Image Description.

Please see image attached.

The image description is necessary for us as this tag is used to mail merge info from our database (and for example pull an image from a URL) that's needed for our CRM.

If you upload a Docx file that has been created in Word, we can get the image to mail merge with our database... but this means we're dependant on Word, and would need to be done using an extra package, which ideally we want to avoid, and keep everything within Only Office.

Thanks in advance.
Hass

Hello,

We appreciate your interest in ONLYOFFICE platform.

Unfortunately, there is no such feature in the current version of ONLYOFFICE.

We will definitely forward your suggestion to our development team for further consideration.

If you have any more ideas on the improvement of ONLYOFFICE platform, you are always welcome to share them with us on the Feedback page within our cloud forum.

Thank you for your reply. I understand and appreciate that you do not offer custom development... but can you advise whether I can get someone to develop this feature myself? I.e. is the source accessible, or is it locked?

TIA.

Hello!

It is impossible for the Cloud version of ONLYOFFICE to develop features by yourself. You can use ONLYOFFICE Community Edition, that is a server version of ONLYOFFICE platform and provides Open source license. Required features can be developed additionally. Follow this link to find more information about Community Edition: http://www.onlyoffice.com/enterprise-edition.aspx

You can try to find required functionality using these services:

1) https://sourceforge.net

2) https://github.com

If you have questions about server version of ONLYOFFICE, you can ask them on our forum for server editions: dev.onlyoffice.org
